The Iowa Hawkeyes have dabbled a bit in expanding their wardrobe the last decade or so. While they are no Oregon with hundreds of combinations for any week, Iowa does their jerseys in a more subtle way that stands out because their classics are so timeless. In my personal opinion, less is more for the Hawkeyes. They know what works. And as the old saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
That said, it is time to get an updated ranking of the Hawkeyes’ uniforms that is much different than the rankings of uniforms that are usually out there. Many are tying into history. Some are commemorating an all-time great era. Others are just for big games and get the fans excited.
But do the uniforms match? Are they intimidating when you see them? Could you wear it any time of the year? Do they have enough detail, or do they cross the line and become too obnoxious? Is this style fitting for any occasion? These are the hard-hitting questions for uniforms that many have failed to get answers to. The world needs to know the answers to what makes uniforms great.
Today, we look for those answers. In an attempt to find the final ranking of Iowa’s uniforms, we go to one of the smartest minds I interact with each and every day. We search for those answers in the mind of my fiancée who has graciously provided us her feedback and commentary on the Hawkeyes’ uniforms.
