Georgia football latest to offer Rutgers recruit Josiah Brown

The defending national champions are becoming regulars in the recruiting turf of New Jersey and New York, with Georgia sending out an offer over the weekend to four-star safety Josiah Brown. The class of 2024 prospect from Holy Trinity (Hicksville, N.Y.) is ranked by 247Sports as the top player in New York.

Nationally, he is the No. 131 player in the nation.

Georgia joins the likes of Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Rutgers among others in recruiting the rising junior. Holy Trinity is a powerhouse program on Long Island that features three-star wide receiver Dylan Braithwaite (a Rutgers football commit) as well as rising junior Nick Parisi (being recruited by Liberty, Rutgers, Syracuse and Temple among others).

Brown tweeted about the offer from Georgia on Saturday. It was his first offer from the SEC:

Brown has long been considered a Rutgers lean, given his relationship with the program as well as his tight friendship with Braithwaite, an explosive wide receiver.

The star safety is planning on visiting Notre Dame in late July.

Georgia is recruiting New Jersey and New York heavily, utilizing the relationship of new secondary coach Fran Brown with the area. He was a former assistant at Rutgers and joined Georgia this offseason.

Known as one of the top recruiters in the country, he is from Philadelphia and has deep ties to the area.
