Denver Broncos want to host an upcoming NFL draft

Denver was among the finalist cities to host World Cup matches in 2026, but FIFA announced last month that Denver (and Empower Field at Mile High) were not selected to host the world’s biggest soccer matches four years from now.

The NFL might be able to give the Broncos (and Denver) some consolation sometime between 2025 and 2027, right around World Cup time.

Denver will bid to host an upcoming NFL draft, according to a report from Ed Sealover of the Denver Business Journal (subscription required for link). It could be a big boost for the city as the draft can generate an estimated $125 million in economic impact for host cities.

The league has already announced that Kansas City (2023) and Detroit (2024) will host the next two drafts, respectively, so the first opportunity for Denver to host would be in 2025.

The Broncos did not have a first-round pick this year and they won’t have a first-round selection next year after the Russell Wilson trade, but they’ll have a first-round pick again beginning in 2024, barring additional trades.
