Josh Pate, J.D. Pickell bring more realistic Arch Manning takes

Each 2023 recruit taking an official visit to Texas on June 24

Mike Farrell set college football Twitter ablaze with a strong take on Arch Manning this week. According to Farrell, the reason Manning is not a three-star player is because of his last name.

I am sure it was not Farrell’s intention to take a high schooler down a notch like others appear to be doing. Nevertheless, it gave voice to those who have been hypercritical of a 17-year old who does not seek the spotlight.

The take garnered enthusiasm from Oklahoma and Texas A&M fans, but not from national media.

College football experts simply stated Farrell’s opinion on Manning was incorrect without providing a reason. There was no need for an explanation.

Ultimately, nobody knows how Manning will perform at the college level, but he will be armed with the best set of mentors any quarterback has been afforded.

Here are a few of the reactions from other college football media members.
