The Detroit Lions are pondering a new uniform redesign for the 2023 season. There are many possibilities for where the Lions can make some modifications, but another NFL team has shown that the changes don’t need to stop with the jersey and pants.
The Houston Texans are debuting an alternate color helmet for a game this season. The Texans have had “Battle Red” jerseys for a few years but now add on a Battle Red helmet. It will make its inaugural appearance when the Texans face the Eagles on Thursday Night Football in Week 9. They’ll also rock the red in an open training camp practice session.
Now that the NFL allows an alternate helmet, the Lions need to embrace the idea when they add new uniforms in 2023. Whether a black matte option or a Honolulu Blue base with a silver lion, there are many possibilities to experiment with in Detroit.
