Takeaways from final roster update

Takeaways from final roster update

LSU released an updated roster on Friday that included the addition of a number of incoming freshmen and transfers. It also included some other news worth highlighting.

Jordan Allen, who had been listed as a safety in his recruitment, is now listed as a cornerback.

LSU has had depth issues at corner due to the NFL draft and transfer portal. Coach Brian Kelly managed to bring in a few veterans there, but the Tigers were still in need of younger corners. Allen helps fill that void.

Veteran defensive end Jarell Cherry appears to no longer be on the roster. He arrived at LSU as a top-200 recruit but dealt with injuries and never cemented himself in a role during his four years with the program. He played just 122 snaps, registering one sack.

Thomas Perry, an offensive lineman who committed to LSU in 2017 and signed in 2019 is no longer listed, either. Like Cherry, Perry had also dealt with injuries and really only saw special teams action in his time at LSU.

With the full roster in place, we’re on the home stretch of the offseason as fall camp is set to begin the first week of August.
