With SEC media days upon us, you can almost taste the start of college football season.
ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) takes a look at every college football team’s projected odds at a number of different scenarios, including chances of going undefeated, winning the conference and winning the national title.
ESPN defines the FPI as:
A measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.
Below we take a look at the FPI’s projected outcome for every SEC team, and its projections for how each team will fare in 2022.
