More on USC’s recruitment of Tackett Curtis on national YouTube show

USC gets big offensive line pickup for 2022 class

There is so much to love about USC’s successful recruitment of Tackett Curtis, a four-star linebacker from Louisiana.

Obviously, getting a four-star defensive player is huge in and of itself. There’s nothing wrong with getting some three-star depth pieces on the roster. The coaching staff can develop three-star recruits into four-star-quality college players. Yet, USC needs bigger hits, bigger splashes, bigger scores on the recruiting trail. Landing a four-star linebacker and a top-100 national recruit is a substantial get for the Trojans.

What also matters is that Lincoln Riley went into neutral territory and beat out USC’s future Big Ten competitors, Ohio State and Wisconsin, for Tackett Curtis. A 2023 recruit will spend most of his USC career in the Big Ten, so this is reasonably seen as a Big Ten recruiting win for the Trojans, more than a Pac-12 recruiting win.

We talked about this and more with Mark Rogers at The Voice of College Football:
