No. 16, WR Tyrie Cleveland

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, No. 16.

Before the Broncos: Cleveland (6-2, 205 pounds) played college football at Florida, catching 79 passes for 1,271 yards and eight touchdowns in 46 games (26 starts) with the Gators.

Broncos tenure: Denver picked Cleveland in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft. He dressed for 10 games as a rookie and caught six passes for 63 yards and earned 132 special teams snaps as a rookie. Last year, he started his second season on the practice squad before earning a promotion to the practice squad in October. Cleveland played in seven games and while he didn’t total any receptions in 2021, he did play 84 snaps on special teams.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Broncos new special teams coordinator Dwayne Stukes has already named Cleveland a candidate to serve as a core special teams player this season, but Stukes won’t have the final say on the roster, and Denver has a crowded wide receiver room. Cleveland’s not lock to make the 53-man roster, but his contributions on special teams will certainly help his case.
