Ranking the SEC QB’s for the 2022 season

The Southeastern Conference has produced numerous elite quarterbacks over the years. There is a wide array of very talented quarterbacks around the entire league heading into the 2022 season. Some quarterbacks are better on their feet, some are stronger through the air and few perform both at a high level.

Sometimes multiple quarterbacks are featured in a team’s offense. In recent years, Alabama used a two-quarterback system with Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts. Another program that used a similar tactic is Florida last season with Emory Jones and Anthony Richardson.

Today, Roll Tide Wire will rank the different starting quarterbacks from across the conference and provide some insight into each of the team’s quarterback rooms.

Jack Abraham / Brady Cook – Missouri

The Missouri football program has seen its share of good quarterbacks over the years. I think the biggest factor in Missouri having success or not in 2022 is the quarterback position. If Coach Drinkwitz can find some stability, it could make for an interesting season. With that being said, I just don’t see that happening. Quarterbacks Jack Abraham and Brady Cook certainly have the potential, but I’m just not sure if it is enough to overcome the SEC defenses. Abraham hasn’t played in two years and Cook hasn’t seen much meaningful playing time. For that reason, I have the Tigers at No. 14 on my list.

Vanderbilt hasn’t seen much at the quarterback position since the Jay Cutler days in the early 2000s. In an ascending SEC East division, head coach Clark Lea has chosen his “guy.” The starting quarterback for the Commodores will be rising junior Mike Wright.
