7 takeaways from day 1

The Washington Commanders kicked off training camp Wednesday in Ashburn. There was plenty of optimism surrounding the team, which head coach Ron Rivera acknowledged after practice.

“The first day’s always fun, and you know, it’s one of those things, the guys come out with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm,” Rivera said. “Like I said, optimism is high, and you just feed off of that kind of energy.”

“He’s a big, strong, powerful downhill runner,” Rivera said of Robinson.

Gibson is Washington’s featured back, and that’s not changing. However, there is an opening for Robinson to find a role early in his NFL career.
