*Jones also threw a touchdown to Saquon Barkley on what was a busy day for the running backs.
“I think we’ll watch the film, and there will be things to correct, but we got into the end zone a few times,” Jones said. “I thought we were clean operationally in and out of the huddle. Guys knew where to go, where to line up. I thought that part of it was clean, which is a big emphasis on the first day when you’re out there and I thought it was good. Obviously, there will be things to clean up, but overall, I thought it was pretty good. “
*Veteran running back Matt Breida, who has previous experience in Daboll’s offense from Buffalo, had a big first day. He ran in a touchdown and scored another on a pass from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who made a nifty spin move before he threw the ball.
Breida recently joined the “Giants Huddle” podcast to discuss the offense and said, “This is a type of offense you want to be in if you’re a playmaker, the guy that wants to get in space. This is the offense you want to be in.”
*Taylor also threw touchdowns to receivers David Sills V and Richie James and another to running back Antonio Williams.
*Tight end Ricky Seals-Jones caught a touchdown from Davis Webb, as did receivers Austin Proehl and Marcus Kemp, who is a recent addition to the team.
*Cornerback Darnay Holmes made the defensive play of the day, going full extension to intercept a pass over the middle. The former fourth-round pick is part of an intriguing competition at cornerback following the offseason departure of veteran James Bradberry.
