The Washington Commanders wrapped up the first week of training camp Saturday by simulating specific game situations. For the most part, the defense held the upper hand. However, that’s not to say the offense didn’t have plenty of good moments, too.

Multiple rookie pass-catchers stood out, while some key veterans had the day off.

What moments stood out from Saturday? Here are five takeaways from day four of Washington’s training camp.

Antonio Gibson returns

After working on the side through the first three days of training camp with a hamstring injury, running back Antonio Gibson was back in action Saturday. Gibson’s injury was never serious, but it is good to see him back as a full participant.

Jahan Dotson had a strong day

Friday belonged to second-year wide receiver Dyami Brown. On Saturday, it was rookie first-round pick Jahan Dotson. Dotson hauled in a touchdown reception from Carson Wentz by making a terrific catch in traffic. These catches look like the norm for Dotson.

Cole Turner taking advantage of his opportunity

Rookie tight end Cole Turner took advantage of his first-team reps Saturday by making multiple plays in the red zone. Head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Scott Turner have singled out the rookie from Nevada this offseason, and his performance in Saturday’s practice makes him a player to watch in the preseason. He can play.

Keep an eye on Corn Elder

The Commanders have three roster locks at cornerback in William Jackson III, Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste. From there, there are at least two spots remaining, perhaps three, depending on how many corners Washington keeps.

Danny Johnson would seem to have one spot, but it’s far from a lock. That leaves rookie Christian Holmes and young veteran Corn Elder….
