Antonio Gibson confident entering 3rd season

Commanders running back Antonio Gibson has learned a lot in his first two seasons and is confident now.

Gibson met with the press following Monday’s practice. Here is most of what he expressed.

“I feel great. Got some reps out there today with the team. Finally good to be back, I felt great. And I’ll just work my way to it.”

“It (hamstring) is not something you want to re-injure and be back to square one. I’m following the coach’s plan, the trainer’s plan. It’s all working out.”

“It’s year three. I feel like I got the reps I needed the first two years. I made the mistakes I made, and I have learned from it. I just feel confident going in. I’m relaxed out there, I know what I am doing.”

I feel like I have been correcting that, practicing it here and that is something I am really looking forward to. I feel like it will help my game a lot. You have to be smart with it, know the down and distance, what quarter you are in, if you are up or down (score). ”

He mentioned learning pass protection was a process of learning during games sometimes how the players move. “I am confident. I can pick it up really quick now, when somebody is stacked or might be coming. I am enjoying the process. I feel like I am there.”

“This year my goal is to get through the season injury-free. That will be my biggest goal right there. Of course if you are lighter, toned and fit you get in and out of cuts quicker.”

Regarding running backs coach Randy Jordan’s daily drills, “Just be ready to adjust. You’ve got to be able to adjust, and just take from it. You never know what will happen in the game. It is all about…
