Jim Bob Cooter debuts as passing game coordinator in 2022

Former Tennessee quarterback Jim Bob Cooter made his debut as Jacksonville passing game coordinator during the NFL’s preseason Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio.

Las Vegas defeated the Jaguars, 27-11.

Cooter lettered for the Vols in 2006. Following his Tennessee playing career, he served as a graduate assistant under head coach Phillip Fulmer from 2007-08. He was also Tennessee’s junior varsity head coach.

The former Vol returned to Rocky Top in April 2021, headlining the Sequoyah High School Football Coaches Clinic hosted by then head coach Ryan Bolinger in Madisonville, Tennessee.

Cooter launched his NFL coaching career with Indianapolis, where he served as an offensive assistant from 2009-11.

He was an offensive quality control coach in Kansas City in 2012 before serving as an offensive assistant with the Broncos in 2013.

From 2014-18 he served as the Lions’ quarterbacks coach and was promoted to offensive coordinator.

Cooter was the Jets’ running backs coach from 2019-20 and served as a consultant with Philadelphia in 2021.
