Jayden Daniels is among most important players for CFP race

ESPN posted an article profiling the ‘25 most important players in 2022’s College Football Playoff race‘ and Jayden Daniels, the quarterback transfer from Arizona State, was listed as the No. 25 player on the list.

It’s no secret that the LSU Tigers have had success with transfer quarterbacks in the past. We all remember how Ohio State transfer Joe Burrow led the Tigers to an undefeated season and a national championship in 2019. Those are the type of expectations some Tiger fans have for Daniels as he comes to LSU from Arizona State.

One of my biggest questions with this whole thing is that I don’t even know who will win the starting job. There are four quarterbacks vying for playing time (Daniels, Nussmeier, Howard, and Brennan). With Brian Kelly coming over from Notre Dame, I assume LSU will run more of a pro-style offense where they rely on the running game with Noah Cain a lot more than the passing game. It’s a whole new playbook that these guys have to try and master before the season starts.

Myles Brennan is the elder statesman of the group as he is entering his fifth season on the Bayou. I think Brennan would be a good option if the Tigers are looking for a game manager while everyone is transitioning to this new offense. We’ll see who gets the start against the Seminoles in week one.
