Texas lands near the top of On3’s receiving corps rankings

Mike Huguenin of On3 Sports recently ranked the top 10 receiving corps in college football ahead of the 2022 season.

Alabama and Ohio State are typically expected to be near the top of these rankings, as they consistently land blue-chip recruits at the position and continually have pass catchers selected in the first round of NFL drafts.

However, Texas and USC had a strong offseason building a top receiving unit of their own. Virginia, Georgia and LSU aren’t far behind with talented pass catchers in the mix.

Steve Sarkisian’s combination of Xavier Worthy, Isaiah Neyor, Jordan Whittington, two solid pass-catching tight ends, and quality depth at wide receiver had Texas land within the top five of Huguenin’s rankings.

Neyor, who came from Wyoming, was one of the biggest transfer portal additions of the offseason. He and Worthy should be an extremely potent combination. Worthy had a, well, noteworthy true freshman season in 2021, and he and Neyor are big-time deep threats. Milton transferred from Iowa State. If Whittington can stay healthy, he will be a high-level No. 3 receiver. Billingsley, an Alabama transfer, is a top-notch receiving tight end, but he frequently resided in Nick Saban’s doghouse. Sanders is a former five-star recruit, and he and Billingsley could do some damage with opposing defenses focused on Neyor and Worthy.

Here’s a look at Huguenin’s top receiving corps in the country for 2022.
