USFL Eclipses 50 NFL Signings With Two Pittsburgh Maulers

XFL and USFL: What Does 2023 Look Like with Two Spring Leagues?

The USFL has had an extremely successful offseason so far, and show no signs of slowing down any time soon. They have officially passed 50 USFL to NFL signings, as two more Pittsburgh Maulers are headed to the NFL.

We’ve seen plenty of USFL alumni ball out in preseason so far (i.e. Chris Odom, DeMarquis Gates). Now, a pair of Maulers will likely see some playing time as well.

Ramiz Ahmed | Kicker, Pittsburgh Maulers

Without a doubt, Ramiz Ahmed had one of the strongest legs in the USFL. He was very consistent for Pittsburgh this season, knocking through plenty of important kicks throughout the year.

One of his season highlights came in week eight, against the New Jersey Generals. Ahmed banged through a 61 yard field goal attempt, setting a USFL record. In doing so, he almost sparked a Maulers comeback in the process.

Long field goals became a staple of Ahmed’s season, as he hit a 59 yard attempt just one week later, versus Philadelphia.

Ramiz now heads to the NFL, signing a contract with the Green Bay Packers. Considering Mason Crosby is out for the time being with an injury, Ahmed has an opportunity to do something special in Green Bay.

Had it not been for the national exposure that the USFL provided him with, who knows if this door would have opened for Ahmed.
