Steelers preseason stock report

Grading the offensive positional units

The Pittsburgh Steelers are at the midway point of the preseason and so here is our stock report with just two more games until the start of the regular season.

Stock up: QB Kenny Pickett

After something of a lackluster start of training camp, rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett has come alive in two preseason games. He might not be able to play well enough to supplant Mitch Trubisky as the opening weekend starter but if he continues to improve it will be hard to keep him off the field.

It feels like even if Snell hadn’t gotten hurt in training camp, he would end up in danger of being released. Anthony McFarland and Jaylen Warren have easily outplayed Snell and should both be ahead of him on the depth chart.

Stock up: TE Connor Heyward

It didn’t take long for Connor Heyward to show he is more than just Cam’s little brother. Heyward is a nifty route runner, smart and has excellent hands. He should be a nice option in check downs and third down situations.

Stock down: OT Dan Moore Jr.

After a pretty mediocre rookie season where he was thrust into the starting left tackle spot, it doesn’t feel like Moore has made much growth to his game. As a former fourth-round pick, expectations should be tempered but the team trusts him to play left tackle and right now he’s not playing well.

Stock up: DL DeMarvin Leal

It has been great to see just how fast rookie defensive end DeMarvin Leal has not only packed on some quality weight but adapted to the speed of the NFL game.

Stock down: LB Devin Bush
