One thing that a lot of people tend to do when looking at high school recruits is try and figure out what type of player they will be at the next level and beyond. Of course, we have only seen these kids play at the high school level, so it makes sense to try and find someone with similar measurables in both college and the NFL that they might be able to compare to if all goes well.
In the past couple of days, On3 has done a great job of finding NFL comps for some of the best recruits in the nation. It just so happens that a few of these recruits that were mentioned are either committed to the Ducks already or had Oregon among their final schools.

Here are the 5 comparisons according to On3 that had an Oregon Ducks through-line from high school to the NFL:
5-star QB Dante Moore
NFL Comparison: Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa
The crowning jewel of Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class, Dante Moore, may be getting an NFL comp that is met with some unease among Duck fans. While Tua Tagovailoa had a historic college season with the Alabama Crimson Tide, his time spent in the NFL hasn’t been quite as memorable. Tagovailoa is 13-8 as a starter with 27 TD and 15 INT in his two seasons.
Here is On3’s justification for the comparison for Moore.
“Dante Moore’s quick release, accuracy feel as a passer, and build reminds us of Tua Tagovailoa. Moore is around an inch taller than Tagovailoa and a more efficient high school passer at the same stage. Tagovailoa was more of a run threat.”
5-star QB Nico Iamaleava Jr.
NFL Comparison: Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert
Before the Ducks landed a commitment from Moore, it was a roller-coaster ride in the recruitment of 5-star QB Nico Iamaleava Jr….
