CU Buffs-TCU Horned Frogs Week 1 score prediction

The Colorado Buffaloes are going to upset TCU in the first game of the season. You heard it here first. The line for the game has shifted wildly in TCU’s favor since we first reported the spread back in June. But I view Friday’s opener as ripe for CU’s taking.

Slowing down the Frogs will be their weakness on the lines. TCU struggled in the trenches last year on both sides of the ball, as our friend Anthony North of Frogs O’War explained.

TCU’s biggest vulnerability in 2021 was up front on both sides of the ball – the defense was 123rd in EPA per rush and 112th in sack rate; while on offense the QB was sacked 10.3% of passing downs, 104th in the country.

Colorado has a talented defensive front seven (on paper) and an offense that will be committed to the run. We also saw in our look back at past matchups against Sonny Dykes-led teams, CU was able to put points on the board, averaging 37 points per contest. Add in the fact that TCU is coming to altitude and what should be a great environment at Folsom Field. Buffs win 34-28.
