John Harbaugh gives updates on Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins

Ravens place six players on PUP list ahead of training camp

The Baltimore Ravens went undefeated in the 2022 preseason, extending their winning streak in exhibition matches to 23-straight games. Baltimore will look to get off to a strong start in Week 1 against the New York Jets, and should figure to rely on the running game in a big way.

Baltimore lost their two best running backs before the start of the 2021 season in J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave updates on both players, mentioning how Edwards is on the reserve/PUP list and Dobbins is continuing to progress. However, he also expressed confidence in the team’s other options should Dobbins not be available for Week 1.

“Well, Gus won’t be ready; he’s out until Week 4. He won’t be ready before Week 4 because of his designation. And J.K. , if J.K. can go out right now, that would be great. I would be excited. He had a good practice today. If not, we have the guys that will play. So, we’re good either way.”

Having Dobbins back in the lineup for the Ravens would be a great thing to see, but it’s also the smart thing to do to not rush the third-year player back. The front office made many moves this offseason to bring in depth at the running back position, so in the event that Edwards and Dobbins need more time than anticipated to recover, the team can rely on players such as Kenyan Drake, Mike Davis and Justice Hill.
