Strong second half propels No. 2 Ohio State to 21-10 win over No. 5 Notre Dame

The Irish used another long pass, this time a 31-yarder and an acrobatic catch by Matt Salerno to start the second quarter. Buchner then completed his next attempt for 22 yards and after a pair of short gains via the ground game, completed a 3-yard pass to the OSU 1.

The Buckeyes called timeout before the Irish punched in a 1-yard rush by Audric Estime to take the 10-7 lead with 11:56 on the clock. The drive covered 87 yards on 10 plays over a span of 5:10.

Following a touchback, Ohio State started from its 25 and moved back 5 yards after a false start. Henderson got the call on next two plays and covered 12 yards setting up a 21-yard reception from Stroud to Marvin Harrison Jr., to the ND 47.

The Irish defense settled and forced an Ohio State punt following a 5-yard delay of game penalty from the ND 40.

Notre Dame took the ball at its 5-yard line after a 35-yard Mirco punt.

After taking the ball to their 28, the Irish brought out the punt team. The Buckeyes took possession on the OSU 24 after a 52-yard Irish punt and 4-yard Egbuka return.

Stroud then orchestrated a drive to the Notre Dame 21, the last 20 yards coming on runs of 16 and 4 yards by Henderson. Ohio State called timeout faced with a 3rd-and-6 with 45 second left in the half.

After an incompletion, the Buckeyes missed a 39-yard field goal attempt and entered the locker room trailing the Irish, 10-7.

Stroud finished the half 11-of-17 for 99 yards and a touchdown. Henderson rushed for 36 yards on five carries and Egbuka led the receiving corps with five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
