4 major injury updates from Cowboys’ loss to Bucs, including Prescott

Things went from bad to worse for the Dallas Cowboys last night. Not only did their offense, at least for a week, meet all of the negative expectations from the fan base as they struggled to get anything going in the passing game. They also lost several key players to injury and it looks like it could be for significant amounts of time for all of them.

Dallas suffered injuries to their offensive line first, then their secondary, and then midway through the fourth quarter lost a defensive lineman. On the very next drive the big one occurred with the game out of reach and the team desperately trying to create a rhythm they could build off of heading into next week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Cowboys lost their franchise quarterback, potentially for several months. Here’s a recap of all of the injury news from the club’s 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

McGovern was injured on the opening drive, the seventh play of the game. Dallas had been moving the ball, as Ezekiel Elliott was powering his way through the Bucs defense with runs of seven, six and then five yards, but on that last one McGovern was rolled up on by a Bucs defender.

After being helped off the field he ended up heading to the locker room for further evaluation.

He returned to the sideline with his helmet, but it wasn’t going to happen. It was revealed the concern was a high-ankle sprain.

Safety Jayron Kearse: Knee injury

Midway through the third quarter, Kearse injured his knee on the lone Buccaneers scoring drive of the evening.  He entered the day a question mark, appearing on the injury report for the first time all week on Friday with a neck issue, but warmed up and was deemed fine. So fine, Dallas only dressed three safeties for the game. Three minutes after getting in a dustup with Bucs RB Leonard Fournette, Kearse was down and having to be helped up by the opposition.

Kearse went in for a tackle of Fournette but had his left leg sticking out. Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch appeared to crash into it in his pursuit of the ball carrier, and Kearse was left on the ground holding his knee. He was out for the game and was seen on crutches following the game.
