Happy Monday morning, everyone! Wow, what a weekend. Pretty much everything and anything that could happen on a football field did. We’re going to start every Monday during the NFL season with The Football Five –– five things you might have missed but need to know. Here goes:
The Football Five 🏈
- The ending of Bengals-Steelers included a game-tying touchdown with two seconds left in regulation, a blocked extra point, two missed field goals and, finally, a game-winner from Chris Boswell to give Pittsburgh a 23-20 overtime win. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, T.J. Watt and Najee Harris both left with injuries, and the team fears Watt tore his pec.
- More kicking craziness: Randy Bullock missed from 47 yards as time expired as the Titans lost to the Giants, 21-20… Rodrigo Blankenship missed a 42-yarder as Colts-Texans ended in a 20-20 tie… yes, a tie! …Wil Lutz nailed a go-ahead 51-yarder — and Younghoe Koo‘s 63-yarder as time expired was blocked — as the Saints beat the Falcons, 27-26… Cade York nailed a 58-yarder as the Browns held off the Panthers (and Baker Mayfield‘s revenge tour), 26-24.
- Amid a torrential downpour, Trey Lance really struggled, and the Bears beat the 49ers, 19-10.
- The Chargers won a key early-season AFC West battle, beating the Raiders 24-19.
- The Packers‘ new-look receiving corps struggled as Minnesota eased by Green Bay 23-7. Justin Jefferson had 184 receiving yards.
