Penn State game preview with Nittany Lions Wire

We have finally made it. Penn State week is officially here.

The much-anticipated rematch between Auburn and Penn State is set to take place this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Last season’s game at Beaver Stadium in State College was a thriller, with the host Nittany Lions walking away with a 28-20 win. Auburn running back Tank Bigsby led the way by rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns while Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Both players return to the game to play for their respective teams.

Both Auburn and Penn State come into the game at 2-0. Most recently, Penn State defeated Ohio 46-10 while Auburn held on to beat San Jose State 24-16.

In an effort to get a more in-depth look at this week’s opponent, Auburn Wire had the opportunity to chat with Nittany Lions Wire’s Sam Dehring about the upcoming game. Here’s this week’s “Behind Enemy Lines”

I think the offense has plenty of hype this year, and it’s rightfully so. After the departure of Jahan Dotson, they brought in Mitchell Tinsley, who was top 10 in receiving yards for Western Kentucky. Their defense had a tough start against Purdue, but they really turned it on in the second half. I still think they are going to be about the same as they were last season. They lost key players on their defense. Over half of their sacks they had last season were from players that aren’t on the team this year.

The obvious strong suit for Auburn’s offense through two games has been the rush. How has Penn State defended the run this year, and how does the defense stack up against Tank Bigsby, Jarquez Hunter, and Damari Alston?

I think they’ve done exceptionally well…
