Welcome to Week 3 of the Iowa Hawkeyes football season. The status of where things stand is a bit different than many would have predicted before the season kicked off. Nonetheless, Iowa is still 1-1, has yet to begin Big Ten play, and has everything they could want still in front of them.
Coming into Kinnick on Saturday evening for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff are the Nevada Wolf Pack from the Mountain West Conference. Entering the contest at 2-1, the Wolf Pack are coming off of a loss to Incarnate Word, an FCS program, in which they scored 41 points offensively.
The competition level the Wolf Pack have played thus far consisting of previously mentioned Incarnate Word, along with New Mexico State and Texas State, has not exposed their offense to the size, speed, and strength that is the Iowa Hawkeyes defense.
While it is a staggering difference in talent level, the Wolf Pack do have an offense that has scored some points so far this year and one we should get right into.

Entering this week, the Wolf Pack are averaging 34 points per game on offense. Take that with a grain of salt as they posted 41 points against an FCS program. Still, they have shown an ability to move the ball against equal opponents. They were 8-5 last year but largely due to quarterback Carson Strong who has ventured to the NFL.
Nevada has made their hay on the ground as they are averaging 163 rushing yards per game and have punched in nine rushing touchdowns. They don’t necessarily run it all that well at 3.5 yards per carry, but are committed to the ground game. This matchup isn’t in their favor as the Hawkeyes defensive front has proven stout thus far.
As far as the aerial attack, they may be in for a long evening. The Wolf Pack are averaging just 174 yards through the air this season at a clip of 60% completions. They have just two receiving touchdowns. That said, they have only allowed two sacks to…
