College Football News offers prediction for Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Nevada

Saturday night the Iowa Hawkeyes will welcome in the Nevada Wolf Pack for a kickoff under the lights inside Kinnick Stadium. Iowa is coming in off of a loss to Iowa State in a low-scoring affair while Nevada comes to town after losing a shootout in which they gave up 55 points to Incarnate Word.

The Hawkeyes are under heavy fire and a lot of scrutiny on the offensive side of the ball right now as they look for drastic changes and hope those occur in a hurry.

Defensively, the Iowa defense may be even better than the 2021 defense. This is all personal feel of watching them, but their speed and soundness appears second to none. Nevada will look to run the ball and has some talent that is discussed in the Wolf Pack’s offensive outlook, but they will be tested against a stout front.

College Football News dove into the matchup and offered some thoughts on how each team can succeed and how this game could shake out. At the end is my prediction of how I see Saturday turning out for the Hawkeyes.

Things to know

In a bit of an oddity, this is a nonconference matchup that is a nighttime kickoff at Kinnick Stadium. In the past, those have been reserved for big-time Big Ten matchups. Kickoff is a 6:30 p.m. CST.

The culprit of this decision is the Big Ten Network, where this game will be broadcast. It will be a “gold out” inside Kinnick as the entire stadium will be decked out in gold.

Why CFN thinks Nevada can win

There was not much sugarcoating going on when CFN provided their reasoning that Nevada can win. It is pretty simple. CFN thinks 10 points may be enough. The Wolf Pack has a ground game, but it will really have to step it up as the Hawkeyes’ defense is vastly superior to any they have seen so far.

Can you score a touchdown, Nevada? Just one and a field goal might get it done. – Fiutak, College…
