This Saturday will be the 88th matchup of one of the great rivalries in all college football. The Nebraska Cornhuskers will welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Lincoln, for an 11:00 am kickoff from Memorial Stadium. Nebraska enters the game with a 1-2 record after a 42-45 loss to Georgia Southern last Saturday. They also enter the game under the leadership of Interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph who took over on Sunday after the dismissal of Scott Frost.
Oklahoma comes to Lincoln with a 2-0 record and ranked as the No. 6 team in the country. They are led by first-year coach Brent Venables who arrived in Norman after a decade as the defensive coordinator at Clemson. He worked as the DC at Oklahoma from 1999-2011.
The two teams met last season in Norman, where Nebraska lost by a score of 23-16. The former conference foes last met in Lincoln back in 2009, where Nebraska upset No. 20 Oklahoma by a final score of 10-3. That win is Nebraska’s only win in the series in the last seven games played.
