One of the great rivalries in college football resumes Saturday afternoon as the Nebraska Cornhuskers welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Memorial Stadium. The 1-2 Huskers enter the game under the leadership of Interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph who takes over for the recently fired Scott Frost, while No. 6 Oklahoma comes to Lincoln with a mark of 2-0 under first-year coach Brent Venables.

This will be the 88th meeting between the two schools, with the first game dating back 110 years to 1912. The Sooners currently lead the all-time series 46-38-3, with the latest meeting taking place last year, a game Oklahoma won 23-16. Nebraska has 46 total conference titles, with three coming from the Western Interstate University Football Association, of which Oklahoma was not a member. Oklahoma has 50 conference titles, with seven won since Nebraska left the Big 12 at the end of the 2010 season.

Twice this rivalry saw the two teams meet ranked No. 1 and No. 2. with Nebraska winning the 1971 matchup “The Game of the Century” and Oklahoma winning the game in 1987. And while they may no longer be conference opponents, this is not the end. The two schools are scheduled to play one another again in 2029 (Norman) and 2030…
