Studs and Duds for Week 2

Studs and Duds for Week 2

The Lions win and it feels so good!! The Detroit Lions notched their first victory of the season with a 36-27 win over the Washington Commanders, something they could not accomplish until Week 13 last year.

The Lions were absolutely dominant in the first half of the game, halting the Commanders offense while keeping them guessing where the pass rush was going to come from. The Lions offense was able to lay down a 22-piece with several big plays from their main playmakers. The second half was a different story as the offense came out quiet, and the Commanders were able to figure out the defense. Thankfully the Lions were able to do enough to keep their lead and walk away as the victors.

After coming up short last week, it was great to see the Lions put together a solid game plan and execute it with the help of key contributors. Unfortunately, there were some that left a lot to be desired. Here are this week’s studs and duds for Week 2.

Today was just another bow on the dynamic gameplay and consistency St. Brown brings to the Lions, where today he tied an NFL record for having 8+ receptions in eight straight games. Also, he set a new NFL record, recording 8+ receptions and a touchdown in six straight games. St. Brown brings a spark to the Lions offense and is one player who is very enjoyable to watch.

Not exactly the type of game you were hoping for from Hockenson. The former first-round tight end looked all sorts of discombobulated throughout the game and could not establish any rhythm with Jared Goff. Hockenson was targeted seven times, behind only St. Brown (12), and could only catch three of them for a dismal 26 yards. The mental mistakes and drops are not good for Hockenson this season as he enters his contract year. Hopefully, he will be able to find his footing and perform like the player everyone expects him to be.

Stud: Aidan Hutchinson

After one game, many people were already overreacting to Hutchinson’s performance, but today he showed what kind of difference-maker he can be on the field. In the first…
