Redshirt junior Nicholas Barr-Mira of the UCLA football team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Sept. 12-18.

Barr-Mira converted all four of his field-goal attempts, including a game-winning 24-yard kick on the game’s final play, to help the Bruins defeat South Alabama, 32-31. He also added a career-long 49-yard field goal in the first quarter. The total of four field goals made was also a career-best mark. He totaled 14 points in all on the day, moving into a tie for 19th place on the program’s all-time scoring list in the process. For good measure, Barr-Mira placed a fourth-quarter punt out of bounds at the South Alabama 10-yard line to give him a career-long 46-yard strike.

This is Barr-Mira’s first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of his career.

Also nominated: Ty Akabane, W. Golf; Francesca Alupei, W. Volleyball; Lauren Brzykcy, W. Soccer; Jake Cavano, M. Water Polo; Jose Sosa, M. Soccer.
