DURHAM – New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and New York Jets cornerback Michael Carter II highlighted the 11 former Blue Devils that appeared during the second week of play in the National Football League.
Jones guided the Giants to their second-straight victory this season, improving them to 2-0 for the first time since 2016, after defeating the Carolina Panthers, 19-16, on Sunday. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished the afternoon 22-of-34 passing for 176 yards and one score. Jones rushed 10 times with his longest rush of 11 yards coming in the fourth quarter on third down to ice the game in Metlife Stadium.
Carter II tallied three tackles for the Jets on Sunday in Cleveland, as New York defeated the Browns 31-30. The Douglasville, Ga., native tackled Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett out of bounds with 12 seconds left to force a Browns’ last-ditch attempt at a Hail Mary to win the game. Carter II has recorded seven tackles in two games for the Jets secondary this year.
Joining Carter II in the Jets’ win was former Duke long snapper Thomas Hennessy, who started for New York and helped the special teams unit connect on a 51-yard field goal and four extra points.
Noah Gray hauled in two catches for 12 yards in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 27-24 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, while Jamison Crowder caught one pass and registered four punt returns for 41 yards as the Buffalo Bills cruised past the Tennessee Titans, 41-7.
