Burning questions for Tennessee going into Week 3

Fantasy football start or sit advice for Tennessee Titans in Week 2

The Tennessee Titans find themselves in an unfamiliar position, sitting at 0-2 for the first time since the 2012 season, a campaign that saw Tennessee finish with a 6-10 record.

Not only have the Titans lost each of their first two games, they’ve done so in an ugly fashion. Tennessee blew a 13-0 halftime lead in their loss to the New York Giants, and then the Titans had their doors blown off by the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, 41-7.

Making matters worse for the Titans ahead of a tough Week 3 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, they’ll be without more key players in this game due to injury as the team picks up where it left off last season in that department.

The Titans have a total of 10 players on injured reserve, two players on the PUP list, and another 11 were on the injury report this week.

With all that in mind, here’s a look at some burning questions for the Titans going into their Week 3 contest against the Raiders.

Will the offensive line hold up?

The Titans’ offensive line has been one of the the biggest culprits in the offense’s slow start.

Tennessee’s group upfront has been bad in run-blocking in each of the first two games, and it was especially bad in pass protection in Week 2, as the offensive line surrendered 14 pressures and two sacks, leading Ryan Tannehill running for his life for much of the evening.

The frustrating part is that Tannehill was solid when he had time to throw, his pick-six not withstanding. The offensive woes thus far haven’t been on the embattled quarterback.

Things don’t figure to get any better in Week 3. The Titans won’t have left tackle Taylor Lewan, who will be replaced by struggling veteran Dennis Daley.

That’s bad news for a Titans offense that has to contend with a pair of very good edge rushers in Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones, both of whom are capable of wrecking a game.

The Titans are well familiar with Jones’ ability to do so after he notched five sacks against them in Week 1 of the 2021 season while with the Arizona Cardinals.

If Tennessee wants to get its offense going both on the ground and through the air, the Titans need a much better showing from the offensive line. Whether or not they get it remains to be seen.
