Each week Clemson Wire will choose an offensive and defensive Player of the Game following each of the Tigers matchups this season.
In its 51-46 win over Wake Forest, Clemson’s passing game was electric, highlighted by quarterback DJ Uiagalelei’s career-high five passing touchdowns and 371 yards.
Though there were many key starters missing both on the front lines and in the backfield, Clemson’s defensive front was still able to come away with a huge fourth-down stop in double overtime to seal the win for the Tigers.
Here are Clemson Wire’s picks for this week’s offensive and defensive Players of the Game.

Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is undoubtably this weeks offensive player of the week. The second year starter had a huge game against Wake Forest, where he set a new career high of five touchdowns while recording a 63% completion rate for 371 yards and no interceptions. Uiagalelei showed great poise in a game that would very quickly bring out any quarterback’s insecurities or lack of confidence in the pocket. The California native showed great mobility, speed and accuracy, proving why he deserves to be at the helm for the Tiger’s offense this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Tyler Davis

Clemson’s defense as a whole really struggled against the Demon Deacons on Saturday, but tackle Tyler Davis was a bright spot for the Tigers. Davis, who returned to the field after being unavailable the last two weeks due to an injury, came away with arguably the best performance on the defensive side for Clemson, garnering six tackles, 1.5 sacks for nine yards, 2.5 tackles for a loss (12 yards) and a pass breakup.
