Tennessee Titans snap count takeaways from Week 3 win over Raiders

Now that the dust has settled from the Tennessee Titans’ Week 3 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, it’s time to take a closer look at how the team deployed its banged-up roster on Sunday.

Before even looking at the snap counts, one thing was apparent on Sunday: 2021 first-round pick and cornerback Caleb Farley is in deep trouble.

The Virginia Tech product didn’t see the field on defense until the fourth quarter when Kristian Fulton got hurt, instead seeing only special teams snaps.

He also saw recently-acquired cornerback Terrance Mitchell, who joined the team last Wednesday, get the nod over him when Tennessee went with an extra defensive back.

Making that decision look even worse for Farley was the fact that Mitchell was not good at all.

So, how many snaps did Farley see? We have the answer to that and more in our snap count takeaways from the Titans’ Week 3 win.

-The starting offensive line didn’t miss a single snap, which hasn’t exactly been a common occurrence for Tennessee the past few years.

-Geoff Swaim continues to get a lot of snaps, this time with 40. He has now out-snapped Austin Hooper in two of three games, and the game that Hooper had more snaps (Week 2), he had just one more. Swaim did manage to score a touchdown, but he continues to look less-than-stellar when blocking. Meanwhile, Chig Okonkwo saw just 10 snaps.

-Josh Gordon sighting: the veteran wideout was on the field for six plays but wasn’t targeted.

-Caleb Farley saw just one snap on defense, and it came late in the fourth quarter when Kristian Fulton exited with an injury. Other backups who got snaps over Farley include Terrance Mitchell (53), who was terrible, Lonnie Johnson (10), and Joshua Kalu (8). It looks like the Titans got themselves quite the special teams contributor with their 2021 first-round pick.

-Tre Avery, who started over Farley last week but struggled, didn’t play a single…
