Michigan football players of the game after defeating Iowa

Michigan ended the winning drought at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday. The Wolverines entered the game losing four-straight games against Iowa, in Iowa City. The last time that the Wolverines had won in Iowa was back in 2005.

But after a 27-14 win that streak in over.

Michigan remains undefeated and the Wolverines won the game using their run game. Iowa went into Saturday with the No. 6 run defense allowing 73 yards-per-game, but the Michigan offensive line had an incredible game against the Iowa defense line. Michigan rushed for 172 yards and the maize and blue averaged 4.1 yards-per-game.

The Michigan defense had a flawless first half against Iowa. But it appeared that the defense softened a little in the second half which allowed Iowa to score two touchdowns. One of those being in garbage time before the clock hit zero.

After a big win against Iowa on the road, here are my six Michigan players of the game. Three of them being on offense and the other three on defense.

Blake Corum was the star of the game once again. He led the Michigan offense carrying the ball 29 times — had 30 last week against Maryland — for 133 yards and one score.

Corum averaged nearly five yards-per-carry and he did a great job weaving through the Iowa defenders.

J.J. McCarthy

Starting his first away game of his career in a super tough environment, I would say he passed the test.

McCarthy finished Saturday completing 18-for-24 (75%) for 155 yards and one score. The sophomore did miss Roman Wilson for a deep touchdown and he did fumble the ball after being hit, but McCarthy played well against Iowa.

He never tried to force the ball he did what the defense gave him. Overall, McCarthy played winning football for the fourth-straight game.
