Studs and duds from Washington’s loss

It was another disappointing day for the Washington Commanders on Sunday as they dropped their third consecutive game after a 25-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

While the Commanders didn’t have one of their customary awful starts down by three scores at halftime, they still trailed going into the break after passing for only 50 yards in the first half.

What went right for Washington? Well, judging by the score, not a lot. But some players did stand out in an otherwise ugly day for the Commanders. Here are our studs and duds for Washington from its Week 4 loss to the Cowboys.

Studs: Washington’s running backs

All three Washington running backs played well and ran hard behind a struggling offensive line. The three backs combined for 137 yards on 26 attempts. They also caught six passes out of the backfield. It was a good day for Washington’s backs.

Dud: QB Carson Wentz

Those first two weeks feel like a long time ago. Over the last two weeks, Washington’s offensive line has been exposed, and Wentz’s flaws are on full display. He holds onto the ball too long, has no pocket awareness and remains inaccurate. Some of these issues are unfixable. Wentz’s arm talent keeps giving him chances. Wentz isn’t alone, and it’s far from his fault, as neither offensive coordinator Scott Turner nor the offensive line was good, but Wentz is playing with zero confidence, and it shows.

Stud WR Jahan Dotson

The rookie wide receiver caught his fourth touchdown pass of the season. He finished with three receptions for 43 yards before leaving the game late with a hamstring injury. Dotson had two terrific catches Sunday, including the one above when Wentz was escaping pressure. Dotson is a bright spot and like Terry McLaurin, needs to be featured more.
