Key veterans missed Wednesday’s practice

The Chicago Bears (2-2) released their first injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 5 game against the Minnesota Vikings (3-1), where some key veterans didn’t practice to start the week.

Heading into this Week 5 matchup against the Vikings, the Bears could really use cornerback Jaylon Johnson back. Unfortunately, he didn’t practice to kick off the week as he continues to deal with a quad injury.

Here’s a look at the full injury report from Wednesday’s practice:

It’s not looking good for cornerback Jaylon Johnson heading into Week 5, as he remains sidelined by a quad injury. With Minnesota’s high-powered passing attack, Chicago is banking on him being ready for Sunday. Running back David Montgomery continues to nurse an ankle injury suffered back in Week 3, and he was sidelined Wednesday. Meanwhile, safety Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) and cornerback Jaylon Jones (illness) also didn’t practice.

There’s some encouraging news about one starter potentially making his return to the lineup. Linebacker Matt Adams returned to practice, in limited fashion, on Wednesday. He’s missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, tight end Ryan Griffin was a limited participant in practice. He’s also missed the previous two games with an Achilles injury.
