The Chicago Bears [2-3] are a lot like the Washington Commanders [1-4]. Both teams seem to be perpetually rebuilding, cycling through new regimes and always searching for a franchise quarterback.
Here we are in 2022, and the two legendary NFL franchises appear to be two of the worst teams in the NFL. Washington and Chicago will meet on Thursday from Soldier Field.
Both teams are offensively challenged, although in different ways. Washington features plenty of offensive weapons but questionable playcalling and a leaky offensive line, specifically the interior of the O-line.
Here are five Chicago players Washington fans should keep an eye on in Thursday night’s game.

Justin Fields is in his second NFL season and still progressing as an NFL quarterback. Fields does some things that make you believe he is a franchise quarterback and, at other times, struggles. Last season, Fields had no help from former coach Matt Nagy and his ridiculously bad offensive scheme. That’s improved this season, but the Bears need more around Fields.
Fields can beat you with his arm or legs. Don’t be surprised if Fields picks up multiple first downs via the run on Thursday.

David Montgomery may be on top of Chicago’s depth chart at running back, but Khalil Herbert is its most dangerous back. Herbert runs with tremendous vision and patience and is the perfect back for a zone scheme. Herbert is quick and can also help in the passing game. Montgomery remains a good back, but Herbert is the player to watch.

Darnell Mooney is Chicago’s top wide receiver. Mooney can be a game-breaker and is also dangerous after the catch in the short game. To give you a view of how bad Chicago’s passing game has been, Mooney leads the team with 10 receptions for 173 yards through five games.
