KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 3/1 Alabama football team fell at No. 6/8 Tennessee, 52-49, Saturday night following a 40-yard Vols field goal that sailed through the uprights as time expired. Tennessee’s victory snapped a 15-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide in the series. Alabama is now 6-1 overall and 3-1 in Southeastern Conference play, while Tennessee goes to 6-0, 3-0 in the SEC.
Coming back from a shoulder injury sustained at Arkansas two weeks ago, Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young threw for a season-best 455 yards on 35-of-52 passing, including two touchdowns. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 24 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns on the day. A total of nine Alabama receivers caught passes against Tennessee, led by tight end Cameron Latu who reeled in six balls for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive back DeMarco Hellams led the Tide with 10 tackles including five solo stops, while also snaring an interception. Defensive back Brian Branch totaled nine tackles with four solo stops while linebacker Henry To’oTo’o tallied five solo tackles and nine overall. Linebacker Dallas Turner scooped up a Volunteers fumble and returned it 11 yards for a defensive touchdown.

- Alabama was flagged for a school record 17 penalties for 130 yards in the contest
- With his two field goals on the day, placekick Will Reichard has compiled 363 (49/216) career points which moved him past Adam Griffith (357 points) into second in program history
- Reichard trails Leigh Tiffin (385 points on 83 field goals and 136 extra points) on the all-time scoring list
- Dallas Turner’s scoop and score late in the fourth quarter was the Tide’s fourth defensive touchdown of the year and first fumble return for a touchdown since 2020
- Jahmyr Gibbs combined for 203 all-purpose yards which included 103 yards on the ground, 48 yards receiving and 52 yards on kickoff returns
- Bryce Young returned from an injury that sidelined him against Texas A&M and finished with 455 yards on 35-of-52 throwing and a pair of touchdown passes
- Young’s total was the most passing yards since throwing for 421 yards vs. Georgia in the 2021 SEC Championship game
