Texas A&M (3-3, 1-2 SEC) has finished their much-needed bye week during week 7 of the 2022 college football season and will begin preparations for their week 8 showdown against the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) in Columbia, South Carolina.
According to Tipico Sportsbook, Texas A&M enters their matchup against the Gamecocks as a slight 3.5-point favorite, which comes as a surprise due to the fact that the Aggies lost to Alabama in week 6, while South Carolina upset a ranked Kentucky team on the road that same weekend, with the belief that momentum has finally swung the Gamecocks way this season.
Both programs are each coming off of their bye and sporting equal 1-2 records in the SEC, so these long-time rivals know what’s at stake as both are attempting to get their season back on track with promising preseason expectations evaporation after the first six games.
For the Aggies, head coach Jimbo Fisher is in his 5th season with the program, knowing that even though the team has lost two in a row, the effort and progress shown in all three phases against the Crimson Tide could prove to be the spark needed to them back to their winning ways. After going 8-4 during the 2021 season, anything less than 9-3 will be highly scrutinized among the fanbase and media alike, but aiming for consistency on offense and figuring out the current quarterback dilemma needs to be addressed this week for any improvement to occur the rest of the year.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM CT. and will air on the SEC Network.
