Crisis deepens at Notre Dame for Marcus Freeman in first season

This is far worse than anyone could have imagined. Notre Dame is 3-3 through six games. The Fighting Irish lost at home to Stanford as a 16-point favorite. Earlier this season, they lost to Marshall as a 20-point favorite. Stanford’s only FBS win this year to date: at Notre Dame. Marshall’s only FBS win this year to date: at Notre Dame. Stanford’s 16-14 win over Notre Dame on Saturday was the Cardinal’s first FBS win in 378 days.

Notre Dame’s win over BYU turned out to be insignificant, given that BYU is not a very good team, either. The Cougars have three losses. Notre Dame’s win over Cal, a narrow one, looks worse after Cal lost to Colorado.

For as good as tight end Michael Mayer is, he shouldn’t be the leading receiver for this team. Take out the one big pass play to Tobias Merriweather, Drew Pyne threw for just 111 yards, while completing under 50% of his passes (48%). Now, how does Marcus Freeman fix this, keep reading.

WAIT FOR 2023

Unfortunately, this offensive issue will not be able to be fixed this fall. As I said last night, due to personnel this is what we are going to see for the remainder…
