Aggies can’t overcome early deficit, fall to South Carolina 30-24

Despite disastrous start A&M trails only 17-14

The Aggies fell behind very early, giving up 17 points before 5 and a minutes had passed in the game, and despite efforts to make a comeback, they could never really get rolling, and ultimately didn’t do enough, eventually losing to the Game Cocks by a score of 30-24.

The Aggies seemed like they started to build some positive momentum on the offensive side of the ball in the second quarter, but couldn’t sustain it after the break, scoring only ten second half points.

Aggies quarterback Haynes King sustained a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter, which led to the debut of freshman Conner Weigman, but the Gamecocks turned up the heat on the young signal caller and the Aggies offensive line couldn’t hold up.

On the defensive side of the ball the Aggies just couldn’t hold up to the pressure the Aggies offense consistently kept them under, ultimately giving up an 8-play 80-yard touchdown drive that put them down by 9 with just over 2 minutes to play that sealed the game.

The Aggies made it interesting with a late field goal and a successful onside kick, but for the second game in a row, couldn’t score the winning touchdown in the final seconds.
