Arkansas Football, like so many other teams across College Football, took their bye week during week eight.
Arkansas was joined by fellow SEC teams Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky by taking the last week off. Despite those five teams being away from the action, there were still plenty of interesting storylines to follow in SEC football.
No. 4 Tennessee welcomed UT-Martin to Neyland Stadium following a massive win over rival No. 6 Alabama in week seven and cruised to a 65-24 win. On the other side of that game, Alabama returned to Bryant-Denny Stadium and silenced a surging Mississippi State squad, 30-6, in a great bounce-back performance.
In a battle of basement-dwellers, Missouri edged Vanderbilt, 17-14. Vanderbilt scored 14 unanswered points in the 2nd half after falling behind, 17-0 to Missouri. The Tigers held on to earn their first SEC win of the year.
To wrap up week eight’s action, LSU humbled No. 7 Ole Miss, 45-20 in Death Valley, while South Carolina earned another quality win by defeating Texas A&M.
Following week eight’s action, College Football News released its weekly SEC power rankings. The biggest movers were LSU and South Carolina, while Mississippi State fell three spots after losing to Alabama.
