Bills get tripped up by Jets, lose 20-17

The Buffalo Bills fell to the Jets on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium by a final score of 20-17 as they let a 14-3 lead slip through their fingers.

The Bills were held without a touchdown in the second half for the second week in a row and QB Josh Allen threw 2 INTs for the second consecutive game. They fall to 6-2 on the season, snapping their 4-game winning streak, and go to 0-2 in the AFC East. The silver lining is that Buffalo remains in first place in the division.

With the game tied at 17-17 in the 4th quarter, the Jets drove 86 yards on 13 plays, consuming 6:10 off the clock as resulting in a go-ahead field goal with 1:45 remaining. The Bills got the ball back for one last drive but had no timeouts.

Josh Allen appeared to find Stefon Diggs for a gain across midfield on the first play of the drive but it was called back due to a holding penalty. Allen then hit Gabe Davis for a gain of 18 to set up second down but the next play was a strip sack by the Jets and recovered by the Bills at their own 14 yard line.

Allen’s third down pass was incomplete and then on fourth down, the QB chucked it downfield to Davis but he was covered heavily by CB Sauce Gardner and the pass was incomplete to seal the Bills’ defeat.

It was an uncharacteristic game from the Bills on both sides of the ball. Allen threw an interception on the first series of the game and failed to throw for a TD for the first time this season.
