Redshirt junior Kazmeir Allen of the UCLA football team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Oct. 31-Nov. 6.
Allen spearheaded a rushing attack that totaled 402 yards on the ground – the most by a UCLA team since 2010 – in the Bruins’ 50-36 win at Arizona State. Allen, who started the first eight games of the season at wide receiver, finished with career highs of 11 carries and 137 rushing yards out of the backfield against the Sun Devils. Midway through the third quarter, he broke loose for a 75-yard touchdown that extended the UCLA lead to a game-high 24 points. He also led the Bruins with four catches and accounted for 63 yards through the air. Four of Allen’s touches Saturday went for more than 20 yards.
This is Allen’s first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of his career.
Also nominated: Caroline Canales, W. Golf; Anna Dodson, W. Volleyball; Ana Jih-Schiff, Swimming & Diving; Sasha Vagramov, W. Tennis.
