5 Things to Know: Syracuse vs. Florida State

Syracuse hosts Florida State on Saturday in the Dome finale, here’s five things to know about the matchup:

1. It’s Senior Day in the Dome

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to celebrate members of the Orange football program who are playing in their final Dome game as part of a pregame ceremony. ‘Cuse seniors who are exhausting eligibility, as well as some draft eligible underclassmen who will have impending decisions after the season and are potentially playing in their final game, will be honored.

After the game, there will be the Senior Walk, which players will return to the field shortly after the game’s conclusion to take a final lap around the JMA Dome and interact with fans. The tradition serves as an opportunity for fans to say a final thank you to Orange seniors and for the SU players to return the favor for the support they’ve received in their careers.

Moving forward, the Seminoles will continue to be fixture on the Syracuse schedule even without divisions. The teams are part of each other’s three-team annual pod in the newly announced 3-5-5 model for future ACC scheduling without divisions. That means that the two programs will continue to play annually.

The Orange defense has surrendered the fewest ‘explosive plays’ in the ACC this season (48) according to ESPN Stats and Info, a continued improvement on that side of the ball which currently leads the conference in scoring defense.

That will be put to the test this weekend by a Seminoles, which leads the conference in the metric (104). The Seminoles defense also is strong in the category, ranking second behind Syracuse.
