Wednesday betting odds vs South Carolina Gamecocks

The week is halfway over which means that Florida football’s final home game of the 2022 campaign against the South Carolina Gamecocks is right around the corner. This season’s Senior Day and Salute to Service game will feature a pair of Southeastern Conference East Division rivals that have not quite had the season they had opened for at the start of the schedule.

The visitors arrive in Gainesville sporting an overall record of 6-3, including an even 3-3 mark in SEC competition. The home team lags a game behind in the standings both overall and among SEC foes with 5-4 and 2-4 marks, respectively.

Florida holds an overwhelming edge in the all-time series with a 29-10-3 record that dates all the way back to 1911 when the two teams finished the game tied at 6-6 in Columbia. The two schools met off and on until 1939, after which they faced once in Gainesville during the 1964 season (a 37-0 win for UF) before the Gamecocks joined the SEC in 1990. Since 1992 — the first meeting as SEC foes — the Gators are 13-7 in the series, though they have evenly split the last 12 matchups.

Prediction

The Gators looked alive against an undermanned TAMU squad on Saturday despite continued defensive struggles at times. The way the team came out in the second half was reminiscent of its surge leaving the locker room at halftime against the Georgia Bulldogs. While Anthony Richardson seems to play better on the road the hype of Senior Day and what should be a raucous crowd should be enough to back the Orange…
