TAR HEELS AND DEMON DEACONS

• North Carolina and Wake Forest face each other on the football field for the 110th time and the fourth year in a row.

• UNC and Wake have combined to average 112.5 points in the last two meetings. Carolina came away with a 59-53 win in 2020 and a 58-55 W in ’21.

• The Tar Heels are 20-15 all-time on the road against Wake Forest, but have dropped the last three occurrences in 2007, 2012 and 2019.

• Carolina last won in Winston-Salem, 31-24, in 2004.

• The two in-state rivals played non-conference games in 2019 and 2021 with the teams winning their respective home games. 

• Carolina’s 71 wins against Wake Forest are the most over any single opponent in program history.

• Last season the teams combined for 1,161 yards of offense with Wake’s 615 the second most ever surrendered by the Tar Heels. 

• Ty Chandler had 213 of UNC’s 330 rushing yards and four of Carolina’s six rushing TDs.

• UNC trailed 48-34 with 1:01 left in third quarter, but outscored the Demon Deacons 24-7 in the fourth quarter to prevail, 58-55. 

• The two met every season between 1919 and 2004 (minus 1943) until ACC expansion took hold in the mid-2000’s.
